My 250w stealth heater was heating the water to 82 even though it was set on 75. I figured the thermostat was broken so I went to the pet shop to replace it. I noticed the new package said "lifetime warranty" so rather than buying a new one, I called United Pet Group/Marineland to ask about their warranty. They said to return it and they would replace it and no sales receipt/documentation was needed. Just include a short letter describing the problem. They were very nice. I thought I would pass this information along just in case you have problems with your stealth heater.

Yeah, I've got two of them sitting for over a year now that I've been meaning to send back. I'd be curious to know how long it takes for you to get a replacement. When I spoke to the mfgr (Marineland) I was told that I needed to send a copy of the receipt.

I have a stealth heater that does that too. The temperature remains constant though so I just have to fiddle with it a bit until I get the right temperature. I didnt know there is a lifetime warranty on it though.

Over the years I have not had one that would put the water exactly where the dial is set. I set mine with a thermometer and they usuall stay where is set it. Setting it a 75 and it heats the water to 82 is a bit much. The Marineland folks have been good about customer service. m.
