Habitat - Indoor :: new basking box!!!

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

YAY! My dad built me the coolest above tank basking box, and I spent today painting it and applying a background, and it's soooo cool! Napoleon so far hasn't spent much time up there, but he keeps climbing up and leaping off. The basking platform itself is a ceramic tile left over from my parents' fireplace, cut down to sit on the inner lip of the tank. I used his old floating dock as a ramp, which seems to be working. My dad built the box just big enough to fit all the way around the outside of the tank, then put in stops to hold it in place, so it's a lot more stable than if it was just sitting on top. The panel in front is plexiglass.

What a great basking box! I love how its footprint is bigger than the tanks - very stable and you don't have to worry about the ultra-precise sizing.

How do you feed him? Do you drop the food down the opening where the ramp is?

I dunno about that! I based my idea on what Breigh did, hers I think is pretty much the best!

Yup, there's a section of the tank that's still open air, so I just drop the food in like always!

That's great to hear! I was going to suggest that both lamps be on the same side in case it wasn't warm enough to entice Napoleon but.. nevermind :)
