I wouldn't worry if you have a glass heater, Tenodera. Most of the better glass heaters are made of glass that's pretty tough under regular use. I've had (and have) them and have never had a problem with them. You just have to take the necessary precautions (don't keep the heater on when it's out of the water, take it out of the tank about 15 minutes after disconnecting it and putting in the tank about 15 minutes before plugging it in, etc.). You'd want to keep it away from rocks to prevent the possibility of it hitting against them. If you're really concerned, you can get a heater guard.
I use primarily Tronics and Ebo Jagers and like them because they have indicator lights (which Stealths don't). They also seem to be more accurate than the Stealths I've used, although some have felt otherwise.
