Habitat - Indoor :: Nano Cube?

I have a 12 Gallon nano cube for my hatchlings. It utilized a 72Watt Compact Flourescent 50/50 bulb. 50% 6500k daylight bulb, and a blue actinic (for UVB). With the turtle dock being 89° do I really need a basking bulb as well?

The hatchlings seem to be doing VERY well in this tank, and they're chasing the guppies I've left in there for them.

What are the size of your hatchlings? You need to have at least 10 gallons per inch of turtle, which means an upgrade soon.

Now, as to your Nano Cube. I'm not sure if you're just letting us know your setup or if you want help or suggestions with it.

If you're read the stickies, you'll have noted that it is recommended that you have 10 gallons of water for each inch of shell length. You said you have hatchlings.. I'm not sure if that's 2 or more, but either way, the tank is already too small for your turtles. How deep is your water?

As to the lights. I did a bit of research on the lights you mentioned and neither of them are UVBs bulbs. Full spectrum does not mean UVB.

How close are the lights to the basking area? It seems the temperature is good for the basking area but you really need a UVB bulb.

I think I spoke to you on turtletimes...

In a few months we're moving to a new home, and I have a 60 gallon show tank that will be all set up for them.

You can see one little guy hanging by a plant on the left, and another up on top of the turtle dock. I have 3 right now, I think the 3rd is chasing guppies...I'm quite sure there is plenty of room for them "for now". As I posted, they will have a 60 gallon tank soon...and be VERY happy I'm sure

As for the bulbs, I was sure the Actinic bulbs were UVB...I will research and try and find one ASAP...I know they need it for their shells.

That's the right kind.. if you think they are enjoying this tank, wait until you get them in the other tank. Have you read all the stickies on feeding/nutrition??

Thanks! I've read so much my eyes are bleeding! LOL!

They're getting hatchling pellets every day, in combination with the guppies they catch (they don't catch too many). The bottle specifically says for hatchling RES and other captive bred turtles. I've tried getting them to eat an apple slice and some Romaine, but they're not interested.

Since you've read until your eyes are bleeding.. (which sounds very familiar) you know that hatchlings are mostly carnivorous, so they may not be ready for fruits and veggies. Keep offering them the greens though, just let it float in the water, it can stay in for days or until it starts to look rather gross.. then take it out and replace it. You'll know when its time I'm not sure I'd worry too much about the fruit yet as it should only be for an occasional treat anyway

I know about the fruit, but I felt they needed a treat.
