Habitat - Indoor :: New Aquarium!

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Well I've now put aside a used 55 gallon aquarium. It looks clean, she said they have had it for like 5 years. Has a nice wooden stand and top. It has a heater, filter, and a lot of decorations.

After I buy it, I plan on buying an XP2 or XP3 filter. What filter would be better?

I get it in two weeks, any suggestions on anything I should do?

Yeah, I plan on getting the XP3 for my new 40 gallon tank. It will keep it cleaner and I won't have to upgrade later. I think it's worth the little extra.

Get the XP3 and make sure all media is included (so you can order it at the same time if you need to).

10 Gallon, with a filter used for a 20. Heater, rocks, decorations, plants, all the good stuff.

Heat bulb, and a uvb.

What, looking to start something?

As soon as I get the new aquarium, I get a camera and post pictures.

I'm not what the water is like, I'm going to be forced to use tap water because I can't afford spring water. What should I use to make the water safe, and how long should I let it sit?

When I do my toads tank, I let it sit at least 24 hours. But I have well water.

I thought about 72 hours maybe, I have no clue what is in the water, I haven't read the report.

get a water conditioner (there’s a recent topic on that) if you are using tap water. turn off your filter if you are adding water directly in the tank and then add the conditioner. or add it into a separate container with tap water before you put it into the tank. i believe it should only take a few minutes to do its work.

Products like Reptisafe claim to do the job almost instantaneously.
