Habitat - Indoor :: Question

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Sun Sep 11, 2005 1:34 pm   Question

:?: I've had Herk for about a year and a half and need to upgrade his tank. The only problem is i live in a apartment on the second floor. So i'm not sure how i can get him into a bigger tank with out the tank falling through the floor??? Also i would like to do this without spending a lot of money.

Can anyone give me some advise??

A rubbermaid is good when weight and location is a problem. It's also less expensive

Yeah I got a packer at Kmart the other day that has a lid on it even so that if I have to move him somewhere in a car or stuff like that I can keep him in there and just poke holes in it and stuff for air movement.

I would suggest though if you get a container that you get one with a smooth inside with nothing jutting out or that could harm Herk and his body. I ran into that problem with the containers I was looking at because they all had stuff on the inside that was jutting out and I ran my hand down it and it almost cut me. So I paid the extra bucks for the smooth inside one just so I wouldn't have to worry about him getting cut.

You can also reinforce the floor by putting a piece of plywood on it to help distribute the weight. also corners are good for place heavy items as they are usually braced a bit more. I'm sure others will have more suggestions .. :)
