Thanks, Mat! I've got some plants that I need to put in there but don't have the time to glue rocks to the roots of the plant so It'll stay put. I also need to add one more bag of sand. It's a little too thin.

Your gonna go with my idea of rocks on the base of the plants? Nice! Just make sure you use aquarium silicone.

Yup. Your idea's a good one! I hope aquarium silicone is cheap. I have plenty of rocks already so at least that's no a prob. Would it be easier to glue several small rocks to the "roots" or one larger one?

Yeah, the tube I bought was only $2.99 and there is still about 3/4 of the tube left. It goes a long way. It says it cures in 24 hours, but it still reeked of vinegar fumes at 24 hours, So I let it go about 48 and I couldn't smell fumes anymore.

When you say "roots" do you mean the plastic fake roots? or the large base itself?

The plastic fake roots. I think I can swing that for a tube of glue. Thanks for the tips!

I would just glue the rocks to the plastic base. I'm not so sure the rocks/rock would hold onto the roots.

And if you use the plastic base, after you glue the rocks onto the base, you can completely bury the base in a sand mound. It ends up looking really nice.

The florescent is a store bought UVB bulb. "Reptiglow" I believe it is. The other is also a pet store bought reptile bulb for heat/UVA. I haven't measured the temp of his basking area yet but to my hand it feels about the same as it was. It's warm, but not hot. I'll get a thermometer on it soon. Things have just been hectic.

Also, both bulbs now are about as far away as they were in the old tank from him. He never tried to touch them. That's another reason his basking area is so large. So if it's too hot, a side step towards the water gives him a cooler area.

Thanks! I don't see why it wouldn't work. I started with the tub and built the cabinet around it. I imagine any tub could go in it's place if the cabinet is designed around it.

Thanks! You can do it in an apartment too. This thing is big, but it's not so big that it won't fit through a doorway. Guess it depends on how much room you have to spare though. It can be built a bit smaller by straightening the tank in the cabinet instead of having it angled like I've got it.
