I know I posted a few pictures in the indoor section, but that was about algae, not just photos. And besides, I wanted to show off my crystal clear water! haha and I set up two clamp lamps now since I got a new UVB bulb.

I just added the superfine filter media discussed in the "fine filtration idea" thread, and today, my water is crystal clear! it's like i'm looking at a bottle of Fiji water! :D

And of course squirt had to get his butt in one of the photos hahaha.

As I always post... I'm jealous. Haha, I am still held up due to my cash flow so I have to put her bigger home on the back burner.

Yours doesn't have much more stuff in it than mine. But the background does make a huge difference. Guess that's why mine looks empty.

Also, is there a reason why you don't raise the water level? I'm sure there is but just wondering.

I'm saving up for a bakground and this. I saw this when I got my turtle and I've wanted it ever since! :)

30 dollars for a piece of driftwood?! I refuse to pay that much, I went to my local herp store and picked up a few things for Crush. I bought him a decent sized looking driftwood for only $8 and they had huge slabs of corkbark for $100.

Thanks for the compliments!

I haven't raised the water level because currently I am looking into A.) building an ATBA, or B.) need to make a wood riser, so that i could clamp my lamps onto them, and then raise the water level up.

So right now the level is at what it is to keep the lights at the proper distances. it's only 5 1/2" from the top, so I think I am doing pretty good with what I have right now.

I plan on getting some other decorations as well, but I need to find some good turtle safe ones.
and squirt doesn't like bubble walls/stones, so those are pointless for me.

That's another thing I've been wanting for a while is a bubble setup.

Forgot to ask about the UVB placement. Souldn't it be placed over the basking area versus the open water?

I think it's still close enough to hit the basking area.

So the placement isn't really all the important? As most of you know, Crush is in a 10 gallon(temporary... I know it's too small) and she has a basking lamp and UVB setup, but I had to rearrange the lighting so they would both be over the basking area. But doing so made me cut some of the lights out, meaning the basking area only has half of the heat lamp and half of the UVB light over it. Here are some pics...

How it's setup atm:

How I'd prefer it so he has more basking light:

So in pic #2 would she still get beneficial UVB lighting or is it best in pic#1?

Best in pic #1

In pic #1, I can see color of the UVB hitting her shell, whereas the other way, you can't.

I would think so if you can make a line from the basking area to the light it should work as long as it's close enough, like 10-14 inches.

what kind of UVB bulb do you have Chris?

i have a repti glo for hulk and his tank and it extends out of the lamp like a mother. its so freaking bright that it blinds me when i look to check on him.
