Oh, and here is a great reason, speaking of the internet, why you should NOT go on websites like eharmony and match.com:
My mother met her ex-boyfriend on one of those dating websites.
He choked her twice, came after her with a sword, then put Hurricane and Typhoon in a microwave, turned it on for a few seconds then took them out. I thought for sure the next time we went back to the house I was going to find one of both of my cats dead.
Low and behold I saw my mother on match.com last night again. Oh hell no. I'll wait for the right moment to bring this up to her. She needs to start meeting people face to face first, lying on the internet and giving someone a superficial first impression isn't fair for her. She needs a real man.

I'm sorry, but this post makes no sense what so ever.......
Dating sites have nothing to do with your mom meeting an azzhole. If she met him at the supermarket it would have been the same thing.A dating site is just a tool that gives you the "chance" to meet someone. After the initial date, it's just the same as any other dating situation, and it's up to you if you want to keep seeing that person or not.
I met both my ex and my current fiancee on match.com and many women in between.Although they all kept saying i was the only "normal" guy they met, i can only speak from personal experience.

Marc is just one example. Every man she's met on the internet seems like a really nice person at first, then turned out be very disrespectful later on. They are the kind of guys that act very down to Earth and normal, and then when you start dating them they show their true colors.

If you meet somebody in person first, and have never spoken to them on the internet, they can't lie to you, or pretend to be something they aren't. There's a whole lot of body language and mannerisms that you can't see through text, a nature people have about them that makes their actions plainly obvious. I knew it wasn't going to last shortly after I first met him. I didn't expect it to get as dangerous as it did, but I knew it wasn't gonna be a picnic either.

I think my issue with the dating sites is, she has very few girlfriends, and the friends she does have, she won't go hang out with. I know she's 53, but why can't she call up one of her friends, and drag her down to the beach or downtown New Haven, and have a good time? Go to an event where she can meet people and mingle. Ya know, have a normal social life. I may spend a lot of time on this site, but I spent twice as much time with my friends. You don't have to be my age to do that, either.
