Looks good, but your turtle could easily climb up and out of it. So try and find a lid for it. Also, PLEASE take out the gravel immediately! Your turtle can eat it and die of impaction. There's a whole sticky with information about gravel here.

Turtles are very good climbers, even as babies. And the mesh siding you've providing will act like a ladder for them. As soon as they figure out they can climb it, they'll be up and over in a manner of minutes.

Oh, honey, they climb. Freakishly well. Even I was surprised when I learned this. You would think the shell would prevent them from doing that, but it doesn't. They get around. (Can even climb stairs, and lift up to 15 pounds from what I've heard).

Anyways, I love how colorful the basking spot is. A lid should fix the problem completely.

That looks great! I love the bare bottom!

Make sure and plan to fill up the tank. That way you can provide the most swimming room and really take advantage of the space provided.

Hey guys, here's Bently's basking spot! I didn't make it though, glass cages installed it for me.

My tank has a bare bottom as well, and although it is very clean, I want to liven it up somehow.

I like the look of the grass... Keep us posted on how it works for you. I've always been curious about how well it would hold up on a basking dock. Can you remove it to clean it?

I was considering to use adhesive velcro strips to hold the turf in place. But after I cut it to size, I realized it stays put just fine. It lifts out real easy and it's no hassle to clean. Although I haven't really had to clean it yet because it stays pretty clean already.

I made my turtle a pretty nice looking wood dock. The whole thing cost about 10 bucks, and it should last forever. I'm trying to find my camera so I can post pics!
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my sig is useless. Without my sig, I am useless.
