Hi i am sorry if the question has been asked i just don't have time to search for the advice.

My wife and I are buying our first house and the sorry excuse of ex-renters just left their two R.E.S. in a small 10gal tank no light or heat outside and said they haven't fed them all winter or changed the water its so dirty and green that we didn't know anything was in the tank till we saw them move. so now we are the happy parents of two very malnourished turtles.

now my questions

1. will i kill the turtles by putting them strait into fresh water?
2.what do i do next. "besides, Punching the old owner in the face."

please email me at gimpster08@gmail.com A.S.A.P

Thanks

no they will love the fresh water, just make sure its not a way different temp than what there in now.

You need to read up on the care sheet for the turtle you have. What is it? I can tell you you will probably need a basking dock and a heat lamp and a uvb lamp but it depends on what type of turtle it is.

Well you will definatly find all you need on this site, I just took in 8 turtles that were left in a house when the people moved out.
Definatly feed them as soon as possible, they will need calcium supplements and a complete high nurtrient diet so they can put on weight. If you can posting pictures will help us tell you if there's shell problems or anything else.

the basic care section is chocked full of great info. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. There are lots of very good turtle owners on this site ;)
