So my little dude/dudet seems to be doing OK overall, but his/her shell looks kinda peculiar. Several months ago it started looking "waxy" and I thought "Oh, it's going to shed soon!" cause it seemed like it was air under the scutes. For some reason though, this hasn't really happened and his shell just looks kinda waxy except for the very top tips, which look normal.
I figured this might be early pyramiding, but it doesn't look much like other pictures of pyramiding I've seen. Most pictures of pyramding I've seen the scutes seem of normal appearance, they're just stacked on one another. His don't have "layers" that I can see realy, it's just the top points look normal (kinda fleshy and non-shiney), and the rest of the surface area of its scutes look like they've been dipped in candel wax and left to dry.
His shell isn't soft or anything, and it's the same on his plastron, the inner areas where his plastron scutes meet are waxy and look like they're about to peel off or something.
I am a bit concerned it could be related to MBD cause we haven't got him a UVB light yet. But he has Vitaman D3 suppliment in his food, so I hoped it wouldn't be a big deal till I got his big final set up in place. Still, not sure though.
Anyone have ideas? Is he/she just not shedding and I should do something about it? Or could it be something else? Thanks!
