I recently redug my pond because of an escaped turtle. I just put it back together and restocked with feeders and a few otehr fish before I reintroduce the turtles. I checked on it tonight after I got home from work and found six feeders dead and both plecos missing. granted it is a black tarp and black fish it may be my fault that I do not see the plecos. Any ideas as too why the feeders are dying. I have a water fall set up and an air pump with two water stone. I am using Amquil detoxifier and Total pond algicide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :?:

your pond needs to cycle just like a tank. your pond was just set up. odds r it is not ready for fish yet. it is fine for turtles sine they breath air but u may need to hold off on the fish for a week- 3 weeks b4 adding fish

What was the water temp when you put them in? How warm does it get where you are?

The pond is roughly 200 gal, 6ft by 3.5 ft by 1.5 ft deep. The water tamp was about 75 degrees. I have not had any more feeders die, but the plecos have not reappeared. I think birds might have gotten them. But, since it was only them and they blend in with the liner I doubt that. The air temp can get up to 120 degrees. It was about 90 degrees that night when I put them in the pond. And yes I did the whole thing of letting them acclimate to the temp and water conditions.
