Why thank you Linus;) I'm getting closer to having the most natural looking tank I can have. This may sound different but I want green algae in my tank for the natural lake look. I'm debating on getting duckweed. That would really make it a small pond. All these mods are really just experiments for when I build the 400 gal tank. Thats a couple years away till then I will just keep doing experiments to see what works and what doesn't.

Thanks cutepanda86! I have been having to add water every three days or so to keep the water within a certain level. It is so dry up here and being in the mountain I leave my windows open to let the mountain breeze run thru the house. This keeps my electric bill low;) Water in my tanks evaporates more than probably most others out there.

sweet, I don't know if it will work tho Steve is very relentless on showing his setups and turtles, lol! The basking branches are doing very good and they fish fry are finding refuge from Toku in the hollow end of the basking branch. So this setup serves more than one function. Toku can sleep hanging on to the sleeping branch or bask on the basking branch. Algae is growing on the logs and looks super cool. The algae eaters have a food source and the shrimp have found refuge in the log's crevices. There is a safe place for the fish fry and the setup looks so natural now. This is the best overall setup, I have had in 10+ yrs with sliders.

Very cool design your turtle will love it. I'm thinking about putting some driftwood in my tank as well.
