Thanks Steve. I just used play sand, but if did it over again I would use pool filter sand because it has no pebbles and is usually free of dust.

I definitely wouldn't use that in a turtle tank. It's not sand it's coal slag and probably not safe for your turtle to ingest. It's an abrasive meant to be used as a blasting media. It will probably tear up your turtles skin.

I did a ton of research before I used it. There are other turtle owners with it in their tanks. I used the fine its like fine sand.It's not sharp at all
I am kinda concerned as to would they eat it. I fed them some sinking food and from what I.could see not 1 grain was injested.If you know anything that says it's bad I will remove it.

My build thread has both my turtle tank and a planted tank where I grow plants for my turtle to eat. I used the black diamond media as plant substrate. My turtle tank has playsand and pictures of it as well.

I can't find anything that says not to use it and it has been used in fish tanks for years. ZYour thoughts?

For $8 it looks cool but not worth the risk. Some black silica sand is a safer bet.
