Recently I got a 150 gallon acrylic tank.

I had a 55 gallon tank with an XP3.

My XP3 is being used on the 150 gallon, which is currently holding about 120 gallons of water.

This does not meet the criteria set on this forum of 3x the power for filters.

Does anyone have a filter the recommend for 150 gallon tank with 120 gallons of water?

How many turtles are there going to be in this tank and how often do you do water changes?

two turtles 4.5" and 5". Water changes once every 6 weeks or so , but only a 40 water change.

Well the XP3 is rated for 350GPH so you would probably be okay in the sense that you have 120 gallons of water. You really only need a filter that is rated 2-3 times the amount of water in your tank. But since you have two turtles in there producing twice as much waste I would probably add another smaller XP filter. The XP1 is rated for 250GPH. I would stick with the XP series since you already have the XP3 and it would make buying media/parts/accessories easier.

With another XP3, your tank water should really be sparkling... Another possibility is to add something like an AquaClear 110 as a supplemental filter to help with mechanical filtration.

Due to the construction of the tank. There is no way to fit a side hanging filter on it.

The tank is a large cube with two holes cut out of the top. It was actully quite the chore trying to get the XP3 functional with the tank.

Not sure I can get a second one in there. Thats why I was considering a bigger pump.
