If I had a massive tank with lights to manage, I'd hang them from the ceiling. That way you can adjust the height easily... say you want to make it warmer or you build an ATBA and need clearance.
Steve, I hung mine on the wall behind Toku's tank. I want to make a bracket to attach the bar to the tank frame. I think it would look good that way. But if you run a flourescent and multiple bulbs (ie, heat and seperate UVB), then the ceiling mount would be ideal. When I do the light concept we talked about before I will do ceiling mounting.
We'll I have been working all day to get these pieces of drift wood bonded to their plastic cylinders.
Again used a 1.75" drill bit and made the holes 2.5" deep in each of the last 2 pieces.
Took them inside and bonded the cylinders to the wood using Loctite 2 part marine epoxy from Home Depot.
I'll update in an hour when the epoxy dries. I'll be putting the sand in the tubes, then using aquarium silicone, sealing the plastic cylinders to the bases.
