Whatever you like and your turtle like best. That's what's important. :)

Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Alright some more updates.....

I got the first base drilled and attached the two pieces to it. I used the new sand bags to stabilize the first shorter piece to mount the base to.....

Then I mounted the basking branch....
Image

Here is the two sets of screws that hold the pieces in place....
Image

Here is the final product in the tank, from the left side, front, right side, and top views respectfully,

Here is the drill bit I found and the screws I used. The bit is a 3/16" Rigid Diamond Tile Drill Bit......
Image

The screws are Deck Mate Coated all-purpose 1 5/8"......

Next step is to drill the next piece of slate and install the last piece of driftwood. I will try to have that done tomorrow, then I will begin prepping the sand and put the rest of that in the tank. Then I can fill'er up and begin to run the new FX5, hopefully toku will be in by the end of the weekend.

Kansasslider; Thank you. No problem, it was alot easier than I thought to drill the slate.

cutepanda; I hope he likes it!

So I woke up this morning and Toku must be getting ansy to go into his new tank. He ate the female guppies, didn't touch any other fish! Smart turtle, getting rid of the fish that can repopulate the tank! I had to move his tank to the other end of the room. Now he can see every bit of work I do to his tank lol. I sense a turtle that wants to move into his new house lol. I'm gonna go get some moss and try a couple live fish. I decided not to use the other two bags of sand, the depth is about 2" right now and I still have to put the other drftwood platform in plus the sand from his current tank. That should put the depth to 2 1/2" or so, I think this will be plenty. I'm gonna return the two sand bags and get some moss and try a couple plants. I'm gonna get about 4 female guppies, as well. I'm thinking I might not put the new platform together and just take apart the old platform and slap the slate to the bottom of that and let that be the other driftwood in the tank......Decisions, decisions

Looks very nice, this is a great guide!

As for those asking me about my bare tank, my female RES makes a huge mess with her poop in the tank. So I have to break out the big net to scoop everything out because it's just all over the place. My other tank has a very bitey male (hence the separate tank) so I will try it in his tank first.

Thank you Steve, I can't wait to get the tank up and running. I think I will make a attempt to have it running by tonight.

Thanks, as soon as the drill is charged I will finish drilling the tile (have half a hole to go). I'm gonna fill the tank as soon as I finish this platform. Yay! Almost there.

Hi All, I got the holes drilled on the second slate rock for the other platform and installed it in the tank. I like the way this turned out, looks like a small under water forest.......

Next I hooked up Toku's old FX5 to the tank and got ready to fill it, I didn't have a sauce pan so I improvised and used a large piece of tin foil folded up to allow the water to disperse and not kick up the sand and make a bare spot. The idea worked good:)..........
Image

So I had to go the physics class and afterwards I stopped by Wally World (WalMart) and grabbed three xxlarge plants (fake) to put in the tank before I filled it. When I got home I placed the plants.....
Image

Now it is time to fill'er up!!!!! I pulled out the ole python and attached it to my bathroom sink. Then I put the outlet over the tin foil and turned the water on..........
Image

There she goes fillin up.......
Image
Image

Half way there, lookin good!!!......

Right after I took the last two pics I realized I still needed to put the sand from Toku's 40 gal tank into the new tank. So I shut the water off and began one scoop at a time moving the sand over to the new tank, thank goodness Toku's 40 gal is in the same room. It didn't take long before I had what I needed moved. Then I scooped the tank water from the 40 gal and put it in the new tank to help with the cycle. I didn't change any media in the old FX5 I just cut the new hose to the correct length and hook everything back up. After I put about 5 gals of the 40 gal tank water into the 150 gal, I filled the tank the rest of the way to its current level. I turned the heater on but it is only 300w and I need the heater in Toku's 40 gal to give the correct watts needed so I turned the house heater up to 75 degrees and will check the tank in the morning. My utility bill is gonna be thru the roof this month, haha well worth it! I didn't take a pic of the tank full because once I turned on the old filter gunk came pouring out so now the tank is clearing up nicely with both the old and new FX5s operational. I will take a pic of the tank and the setup I have going on underneath it all. Till next time, stay tuned.

Extra Extra, the lastest and greatest...... I filled the tank last night but didn't get pics till today, due to the gunk from the old filter. Here is the tank full and clear.......
Image

Here is the tank with the MVB hooked up measuring at 13" from the bulb to the top of the branch. I added the fish from the 40 gal before school this morning, 8 guppies, 1 minnow, 2 algae eaters and about 40 snails, yes 40 snails! My wife said save the snails, so I got all I could see and will leave the tank full for a day or two to see if anymore show up on the logs or glass. This took about two hours, good thing I got up early this morning. On the way home after class I stopped at petmart and stocked up on some more fish, 5 female guppies, 4 bala sharks, and 15 minnows......

Image
Image

I grabbed a moss ball too. Gonna try my luck with one of them, if it works out then I will grab a couple more.....
Image
Image

This is the setup under the tank. I have a GFCI powerstrip with 7 outlets mounted on the center beam in the back of the stand. Unfortunately I knew I was missing something, after I filled the tank and hooked everything up I realized I didn't get a GFCI wall outlet:( So I will have to wait till the next time I drain the tank to change that out. I'm using the extension cord for the light the cord wasn't long enough to reach the timer at the bottom of the power strip. Heres the two FX5s..........
Image
Image

So that's all folks! The tank is done for now and I like how it has turned out. Toku's new home is built and ready for it's new owner:) Thanks for all the kind words and advice, I truly appreciate it. Next is upgrading the lighting system to really make this tank shine! Til next time.....
