hi. where does the extra media go in the fluval+ internal filters? i have a 4+ and am not sure whether to put the carbon in the bottom before the sponge cartridge goes in, or in the top before the motor housing goes in. does anyone know? thanks a lot.

Your instruction manual should have a detailed list of all the media that goes in your filter and list whether it is placed high, medium or low. I had a fluval not long ago, but I can't honestly remember right now...it's kinda early on my day of, lol. I remember the instruction book being very detailed though.

I have a Fluval 4+ internal filter (currently sitting in a box). Are you sure this is the filter you have and not a canister? If you do have a 4+ internal filter (not a 404 or whatever), when you open the portion that holds the media (you pull it out of the case and open it up), the sponges (you use two of them) are closest to the water, and the carbon insert is sandwiched in between them. I don't understand how you could put the carbon on the bottom or on top of the sponges near the motor housing with the internal 4+ Series...

What size tank are you using the filter in?
