Habitat - Indoor :: Night-time temp

What is the recommended night time air temp inside the tank? In the day its 90 and I somtimes use a nighttime red bulb that keeps it at 80 for the night. Is it ok to just turn all lights out and not worry? Whats too cold, i just worry about my dorm room b/c i cant control the temps so i thot the red bulb would be a constant temp for them at night.

They'll sleep in the water, so room air temperature should be OK. Water are the water heaters set at?

well i was told not to get a water heater b/c it would bake my turtles since its only a 10 gallon tank. I was gonna get one when i upgrade in a few weeks. The water is 80 during the day and about 76-78 at night. Is this too cold? And, one of the turtles sleeps on the floating dock while the other is in the water. Thats why i was worried about air temperature.

The drop in temp you have is fine. If it gets really hot where you are, however, having them in a room with AC (especially if they're anywhere near the vent) is not a good thing.

ok i guess ill try it out tonight and see how cold the air/water get. No harm in trying.....i hope =/ lol

I've noticed that the water in my tank stays at 78F in the warmest side. I'll get another water thermometer for the other side, and a stick on thermometer for the basking area, and I'll be able to compare. I bought one of those standard mercury-based thermometers, and seems very accurate.

I may have to get a heater for the winter...

They make water heaters for 10 gallon tanks... if you set it right, it shouldn't "bake" the turtles.
