Yes of course they will be, I have a 200 watt jager for my 55 gallon, it works really well, although I did have to calibrate it and that was a pain in the [---]. Calibrating 3 or 4 heaters would definitely be a pain in the [---] lol! but once you're done doing that, they work really well, top of the line heaters!

I had to calibrate my 300w in my 55 gal too, what a pain. I upgraded to that one because my other crapped out at the worst possible time.

so how far along are you with your build? you wrote that you would put 4 turtles in there, would they all be res or different kinds? I love DBT's and wish I could keep some but I live in texas and they are prohibited as pets here.

I am just into the planning stage of the build. One of the turtles died so I am down to 3 now. But I love them so what can you do right? They are in a 55 gallon tank until I get the big one for them. Never done turtles or a large tank before so I am way behind the learning curve and am trying to catch up.

sorry for your loss. what kind of turtles are they? how big are they at the moment? presently do you have the proper lighting, water temp? if they are hatchlings they can be sensitive. also any idea how the turtle died? if it was an infection it might have spread to other turtles if they were all in the same tank.

was the water level too low? With hatchlings you need atleast 3 - 4 inches of water otherwise there is possibility for drowning if they flip over.

Alrighty, just an update here. With some more questions. I have my 240 on order and it will be delivered on Nov 8th. The stand will have to be stained and sealed, that will take a few days. So we will probably start adding water Nov 13th ish to be safe. What I have is that I set up the 55 gal using some of the stuff that is going in the new 240, such as one of the fx6's and one of the ehiem 300 watt heaters. What I am thinking is setting up the 240 with one eheim 300 watts and letting it cycle for 6 weeks before moving the Turtles to their new digs. Any thoughts on this plan?

The alternative is to fill the new tank and put the already cycled filter on it and just go ahead and move the turtles over with both heaters ect.
