Okay so we are getting close. I have a question about canister filters. Ideally I want both input tubes on the same side, and both output tubes on the same side. With as long as the tank is, it doesn't look like that will happen. So I may have to use an fx6 in each 4' section. Is that going to give me lower filter efficiancy or does it matter? Doing a filter on each side also gives me the ability to seperate the turtles later if I need to.
Not yet, I have some really good ideas from here. I liked the hanging plants creating some privacy in the basking area. In the water I will need to make a shallow water area, I hope that there is enough room,
I know that I tried doing the pvc pipe, but it looked tacky. I did see on youtube haw to make caves out of clay pots. I may do that and then build a platform on top for a shallow area. As far as the basking area goes, I have 2 feet by 2 feet, and I can add another foot to foot and a half if I need too.
PVC pipe used for what? You can order colored PVC pipe and the ones with fake plants wrapped around them look good to me, especially when used with a light colored substrate.
I currently have a make shift basking area made out of pvc. It works, but it looks rediculous. The plant wrapped pvc does look good. I currently have my turts in a 50 gal deep bow front tank, that may be too small for 1/4" pvc to work.
I have tried 2 ways, one I built a platform up from the bottom of the tank. It took up half the tank. Hopefully the new tank it won't be an issue. I currently just have 2 pieces of pvc under the basking platform holding it over the tank. It is functional.
