I'm putting this here because most posts are here. Go out and buy up all the incandescent light bulbs you can. I use 75&60 watt for my tanks. Went to home depot yesterday and Menards and the higher watt bulbs are no longer available ! Our government is phaseing them out. I just bought enough to keep me happy for a few years.75 and 60 watt.

I thought the 100 and 75 were out awhile ago and all that was left was the 60 until this year. Luckily halogens are still in. I'd assume those red heat bulbs are still in too.

Menards had 75/100 of all kinds a week ago. They had a few boxes left yesterday.

Frosted halogen? What ever you do don't waste your money on the Zilla brand bulbs. I used them when I first got my turtles. You will be lucky if they last a month. I want to buy a mega ray. These are the junk Zilla brand...

What kind of bulbs are everyone using if you don't use actual basking bulbs from the pet store? I have been looking around to find UVB bulbs other than in the pet store and I have had no luck. Does it actually say UVB on them or is there some other type of light RES's like also? The bulbs at the pet store are so expensive and don't last very long!

You can buy UVB bulbs at Amazon and E-bay. And yes they will say uvb on them. Most uvb bulbs put off no heat so you will need a seperate bulb for heat. I use regular frosted light bulbs. For uvb repti glow and repti sun are popular brands.

For UVA/heat, I normally use 50 watt PAR30L halogens, I think they are very similar to the TurtleTuff bulbs. These are much heavier than a florescent or incandescent so please make sure that is calculated in their setup.

I should know this but can't member? Mega. Ray? What's your thoughts on the Fluker sun spot 160w or the Exo terra solar glo 160w?

I've heard the exo terra solar glo bulbs are unreliable but don't quote me on that. I don't know anything or haven't heard anything about the Fluker sun spot bulb. I switched to the Mega-Ray recently and so far it is superior to the Powersun.

For heat I've been running indoor/outdoor halogen flood lamps for many years now. They tend to last a year or longer and put out a nice amount of heat even at lower wattage and don't break if they get hit with water.

I use either CFL or regular fluorescent lamps for the UVA/B. I'm actually looking into new options since the fluorescent lamps don't last long enough for my taste.

Are you using PAR30's? Mine usually last 6-9 months.
