They should be able to get some UVB from the sun through the water surface, but very little.

@Steve-Regarding the filtration, you mentioned that instead of dechlorinator I can use a filter and run it in plain water. Am I right? Because I have a sponge filter!

Steve's talking about an inline carbon filter:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33171

The carbon will help to deal with chlorine and other elements in the water.

My turtle is losing its colour. Please have a look and tell me if its okay?

Please ignore the reddish shade appearing on the shell. It is due to the camera fault.
And also what is the white spot on the growth margins?

I couldn't tell much from that, the coloring looks a bit the same. I would probably feed a bit less. The white spot could be fungus, hard to tell without a closeup. If you search the forum, you'll find photos of other RES with it.

When we take our turtles outside for some sun time - what do the temps outside need to be in order for it to be safe. How warm of a day and for how long. Do we put them in a small wading pool while outside. I just don't want my turtles to catch a cold. Please let me know what temp is acceptable to outside basking. Thanks

If it's sunny and calm out, I take them out when it's 70. Otherwise, the mid-to upper 70's. If they are hatchlings, then I'd wait to at least the mid 70s.

I have kept a track of the spot since time and I think it has to do with the scutes and not fungus. Still ill take care where it leads.

The good news is that my turtle has started eating lettuce, small bite of tomato. Yesterday I put half palm sized lettuce leaf and by evening it had disappeared!

Good to hear! A healthy appetite is usually a healthy sign.

I have upgraded the basking dock a bit. Its made of translucent acrylic of 4mm thickness. I got it custom made for $5!
However I had a problem with the traction on ramp. So asked the guy to cut out pieces of the same sheet and he stuck it with chloroform. My turtle however finds it somewhat effort full to go up there!

My dilemma is that if the strips come off, what should I do? I was thinking of drilling rectangular strip like holes.
Also can I put any water-proof anti-slip material?
