I got two RES turtles off of someone. It came with everything including a floating island. Its the kind that is held with magnets. The thing is it didnt have the mags. I can't find any around and Im ahort on money. I was wondering would I be able to use aquarium silicone to seal it to the glass in the tank?

Silicon can work but it defeats the purpose of having the floating dock because the magnets are there to move it accordingly to the water level. so it might cause some trouble for ur turtles to climb up and bask. I think you're referring to the exo terra turtle bank. why not use some eggcrate and make a basking area. it's effective and cheap

I was planning on keeping the water level the same to make it easy for the turtle. So you think it won't work? How do I find egg crates. I heard of them but don't know what they are.

It'll work definitely if you can consistently maintain the same water level for them to climb up. They are called light diffusers too, try looking for it at your local hardware store

How would I use the egg crates? What do I do exactly? I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. Lol

Cut it with some tools (Pen knife, a saw, etc anything sharp you name it lol) you can make it as a ramp. for the basking area... try looking for some materials that can be cut into the shape that you want, floats and does not absorb water..

here's a pic of my hatchling tank basking area, it's held in place with strings that tied to the suction cups. I use straws to tie the eggcrate to the basking area. they seemed to love it lol

That's pretty creative. I might try something like that.

Haha thanks, just beware that these little fellas are great escape artists. Good luck!
