Habitat - Indoor :: which room does your turtle live in?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

George has alternated from the living room to dining room to bedroom, but that was before she had a bigger (heavier!) tank.

Right now, she's set up in the bedroom (I thought I'd be spending most of my time in there the next couple days, and in hindsight, it's the only place where there are the required available outlets [3; I need to pick up an extension cord thing]).

So where does your turtle live?

Mine lives in my bedroom, which is where I spend most of my time when I'm at home. I love being able to watch him swim around. :)

Mine are right outside the bedroom. The constant water flowing and aggressive begging is a bit annoying but I guess you get used to it.

Penny's tank is on the living room floor up against a wall between two windows. We spend most of our time in the family room so there really isn't much traffic. I do go in there and lay on the floor and hang out with her. It is quite therapeutic for me too.

In our master bedroom. Hopefully if we move Moe will get a more visible place.

What do you mean by "aggressive begging"? My lil guy's definitely a beggar at time but nothing that too bad. He's still pretty little though. What do I have to look forward to as he gets bigger? Lol

Having him in my bedroom is nice too because other than me there's not a whole lot of traffic going through. He's still pretty shy when he's basking and if there's a lot of movement he'll dive off. He's not so bad anymore if he sees it's me getting up and I don't get too close to the tank. Maybe someday soon I'll be able to snap a pic up close of him basking with his little legs stretched out. I love to see him do that. :D

My little girl lives in my dining room. I'm in there a lot, I like to read and do crafts and stuff at the table. I leave a radio on near her tank, because she seems to really like the music and will stay on her basking platform until I turn it off.

Great idea! I will try it. It's pretty quiet in my bedroom where George resides...

Got her set up with the classical music station. I did this with my parakeet Christmas (RIP). Heard it enhances intelligence. Ironically, Christmas died on Mozart's birthday while listening to K-MOZART radio.

So today's a litmus test. We'll see if George responds to classical music. This furniture rearrangement also put a lamp near her, so I can leave that on if I don't have a tank light timer by Christmas. Clearly, she's OK with sleeping under dimly lit conditions (napping during the day, falls asleep at night/starts dozing, prompting me to turn off the tank light...

They know when breakfast is. Once the timer turns on their lights, I have to get their lettuce. If not, they'll attack filter outlet nozzles (pulling or pushing) which almost caused some floods because it pointed up and almost directed water out of the tank. They'll do the splashing/swimming against glass as well, which sprays water out. It's a real racket.

For dinner, they'll usually slide of the basking area and wait for me. Same time each day. Even if I'm not there, they will wait. They have accurate internal clocks.

Fascinating. George watches me like a hawk. She knows morning time is feeding time and when she seems me go in the kitchen (from the dining room where she resides), she starts splashing around excitedly. Too cute.

My babies are on my bedroom floor. I usually take a blanket and pillow and lay beside the tank to watch them.
It's so relaxing. :)
