No problem! Gotta agree, cutting and getting the grass mat to fit together can be a real pain in the butt oh well it's all worth it haha.

I really like your basking pics. They're fueling ideas for my basking area. My "habitat" is going to have a 2' x 4' basking area which gives me a lot of room to "decorate". Originally I figured a pool sand substrate with various rocks as landscaping. I may add a "grass" area too.

Thanks for your comment, Steve--I thought I posted a couple of pictures here, but I may be remembering my Facebook account instead! I'll try to find some pictures from this summer and get them posted later this evening.

They can't climb out since there is plexiglass blocking them from the edge of the tank

Newer replies show up last. What kind of light do you have by the filter? I think you have a nice design and a lot of the right things, but the layout needs to be adjusted.

It's the kind that provides the stuff that the sun gives them.. can't remember the name. We had to buy it a while ago cause when they were little and we didn't have it their shells got a little soft. Luckily it didn't get too bad before we got this light and it fixed the problem!

Hi,

I just built an ATBA for Frankie. I'd like to get feedback about it like

-how do I encourage her to use it?
-should my water level be higher?
-is the ramp sufficient (not too steep) for her to access the platform?
-any feedback is welcome

I built it out of egg crate and acrylic sheets. I put Forest Moss on the platform and ramp so it won't be rough on her legs and skin. I left a completely open area under the lights so that she can completely dry out - assuming she eventually uses the area. And the ramp rests on her original basking shelf (which suction cups to the walls of the tank).

We have very hard water which is why there is a film on the glass. I plan to scrub it off, but I figure Frankie has been through enough in the last 24 hours so that will have to wait a little longer.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I would try to have some more warmth positioned over the ramp, however, if it's just resting on it then it needs to be properly secured. Some privacy is good too. What are you using for traction? It looks a bit messy.
