Habitat - Indoor :: Turtle Topper-She wont bask

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Sun Mar 08, 2015 8:57 pm   Turtle Topper-She wont bask

Sooo a long time ago i got a turtle topper off the internet, and i cant upload a photo because apparently its to big  so its by ... pennplax? its for a 55 gal that's what i have.
its one of those ATBPs that are supposed to look like a mossy log and have a resting platform below it. so at first i was going to get another kind of turtle so i had the wrooooooonng setup, plus i was inexperienced so i had this slope of gravel with like a 4 inch water line, then i had the tank almost full and i had the tetrafauna sandstone filter boosted up on a container along with a 30 gallon "turtle filter". So that leads up to now, wit that ATBP and 100 gallon canister filter, all the while skippper trudged on. now she wont bask on the turtle topper. its been 1week. any ideas?
Thank You For Your Help!!

Have you tried luring her up with some food? They need some time to adjust to changes. What's the temp of your basking area?

Give her some time and monitor the temp of the basking area, appropriate temp will encourage her to bask.

Where are the lights positioned? Can you post a picture of the setup?

Is the heat closer to the ramp? I'd cover the sides (temporarily) and place her up there regularly (just so she knows she can get up there).

Why do you need to add that to the ramp? Not grippy enough?

She knows she can go up there because she goes up there for food, and yes the heat is closer to the ramp (epit it pointing in the opposite direction of the ramp)
I put the gripto tje ramp to make it easier

"Blueprint"
I had this idea to add some wire fence cubes by the basking platform so I could put LOTS of water in and she wouldn't really have to climb up at all! Pardon me, I'm a terrible artist sometimes.
