I recently bought a Tetra aquatic water heater but I do not think it is working well at all.
Reviews on it weren't that great either.

What brand of water heater do you guys use?

Aqueon and Eheim Jager are probably the most popular here for your standard water heater. Aqueon Pros have a Lifetime Limited Warranty.

I shall look into these heaters. I definitely have heard of Aqueon, but never Eheim Jager.

Actually all Aqueon heaters have a Lifetime Warranty. All you have to do is cut the power plug off then take a picture and e-mail it to them and they send you a new one. Doesn't get much better than that!
