Aquatraders is the only source for Odyssea filters.

I wondered why they don't sell them on Amazon but there are 2 New ones on ebay being sold from topdogsellers from Houston Texas. I noticed they "topdogsellers" also sell parts for them on Amazon. Fakes?

I'm not sure I would buy a used fx. You wouldn't get the warranty and I would buy the 6 instead of the 5 anyway. It purges twice a day and I really like that. Used is always a risk.

Here are some Odyssea filters on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CFS-330-Caniste ... SwofxUmHmm

Not exactly turtle-sized, but they do exist.

I don't believe they're fakes. topdogsellers is an excellent vendor; for some reason, they just sell tons of aquarium equipment fairly cheaply. I would be 100% confident buying anything from them. They make great LED's, too.

For what it's worth, the prices are not really better though the CFS 330 might be a new model. Still, I'm not sure about an ebay-only company.

Any bio and chem media is fine, the foam pads you can probably use a generic kind though you might need to cut, trim or resize it to fit. That would be true of any canister filter though.

I don't see why not. You'll want to use a mesh bag to make it easy to remove and clean.

I agree you can use ceramic rings or carbon with either of the larger filters.

I'm not a fan of bio balls. Your foam pads do the same job as bio balls. You might need to cut some foam off one of the filter pads to make room for ceramic rings. Come to think of it I'm pretty sure your foam pads serve the same purpose as bio balls and rings. Maybe just add some carbon to that filter. You said your running 2 filters?Just make sure you clean all your media in tank water no matter what you use. Carbon will need replaced at least once a month. I wouldn't just fill the filter with rings or bio balls they won't trap debris like the foam filters will.
