Looking at a 100G Rubbermaid stock tank to go with the Fluval FX6

According to the filter manual, the lid of the FX6 (filter indicated as 23" in height) has to be at least 7.8" below the water line? Is that written in stone? I have seen pix of stock tanks and the FX6 both sitting on the ground. Reason I'm asking is because if that's the case, it means I have to somehow get the stock tank elevated.

If the tank has to be elevated, can I do this:

floor - piece of plywood - cinder blocks - piece of plywood - stock tank

Still undecided where I'm gonna place this tank: either in an area where there's already carpet (basement...only one window), or in an area where there's already laminate (living room...few windows)

I'm gonna put probably 4 to 5 rows of cinder blocks beneath the plywood where the stock tank will sit.

I built my stand( 8" tall) out of wood but blocks will also work. I also had to locate the output nozzles close to the top of the tank. If you put them too deep in the water the water pressure from your tank won't let it purge air. But I guess you want them close to the top anyway for surface water agitation. I cut the outside plastic on the tank rim so I could mount the intake / output.
