The tank still looks pretty good, hopefully the turtles will put it to good use.

and the whole setup.

Theres 4 lights the 2 end ones are for extra light, the one that sits on top is for heat, and the middle one is for UVB
The little computer/muffin fan is the keep fresh air in and heat out. (on a timer)
There is a groove all around the ATBA to keep it in place.
Theres doors on either side for feeding.

And thats it! Thanks

How big is your tank ??

I've been working on building an ATBA I'm using a 13-1/2 inch long piece of lexan as my basking area and then around the top rim of the tank all the way to the middle support on top of the tank would be a 2x6 wood frame (six inches high , all my turts are 3 inches or less) with a six inch gutter guard on top of that and then I have a lamp stand from a previous tank that I was gunna attach to my wall at about 12-14 inches for my lamps . They'll hand at about 8 -10 inches from my turtles !

My family and I have really enjoyed looking at all the great ATBA pics that have been posted here..

We set out to do one of our own and it has been a great adventure with the kids and I working together on things. We're not experts with wood.. but we think it came out pretty well.

We used oak 1x2s for the framing around .80 thick acrylic sheets that we cut out to fit. When then took the ramp from their old dock and mounted it onto a slice of acrylic that is held to the tank mid-beam by a standard hinge. We're still trying to get the ramp set at the right angle for them to climb up, but for now, I've got some cable that runs down under the old ramp and mounts to the ATBA.

One of our little ones has tried to climb up with encouragement to get at some lettuce up top, however, they can't seem to get their rear feet up just yet onto the dock. I've tried to get the angle about the same as the old floating dock.

I installed this late Saturday night and they haven't been up top to dry out since. I want to give them time to figure it out, but don't want them to be in the water for too long as I know that is concerning for their shells. Anyone know how long before I should perhaps pull them up to dry out some how? If I pick them up and set them upstairs, they just end up diving back into the water.

I'm sure it is just a learning thing for them..

Here's a few photos:

Any feedback or thoughts on things will be accepted as this was our first adventure into a DIY ATBA..

Looks very nice! Hard to actually say how long they can stay in the water without any health effects, but I think you have plenty of time with healthy turtles.

Finally I upgraded my turtle's habitat yesterday to a 50 gallon tank from the previous 15 gallon. The dimensions are 36"x18"x18".
Currently I have only put basic accessories I could. Later on I'll get some more if needed.
Posting the pics!

The direct sunlight is gonna reek havoc on your water. Mine would turn in 3 days. Full yucko!

I understand what you saying. It has started turning the fake plants slimy. However, In the previous plastic tank it didn't cause much of a problem. Except keeping away from sunlight, what is the solution?

A solution would be some kind of algae killer like for ponds or something similar . Unless you can move the tank .

Moving the tank is not possible and will also void him of sunlight. But I guess the cloudiness/slimyness is due to the submersible filter I m using for him. Except sunlight I don't provide artificial lights to him. So let's see how it goes! I've heard algae killers has some side effects.. Not sure though
