Habitat - Indoor :: UVB tube and moisture

Hello,

My query relates to the effect of moisture on the UVB light tubes? As advised, "any protective glass or plastic partition should be removed" as this would prevent UVB from reaching the turtle. However, how safe is the moisture and evaporation of the water on the tubes. I know most mornings, the hood on my tropical fish tank is all wet from the water evaporation, so I'm wondering about the effect on the UVB light tubes. Wont they get wet, and could it be dangerous? Thank you for your help.

Scary as it sounds, I have never had any problems. I am assuming mine gets moist as well, because I can see the moisture clinging above the water line. I also leave a little extra room on each side of my light that isn't covered...I hope that some of the moisture just goes around. I don't know how effective that is, but so far I haven't had any problems with it.

It's a good idea to check all fixtures on a regular basis. I haven't had a problem either but I'm not using a hood, which would definitely keep more moisture in. Plus, turtles splash water around all the time, so if possible I would try to use a GFCI outlet for all the electrical devices.
