Hey everyone, I'm new :-)

Anyway, my RES Herbie is 5 years old and I'm looking to upgrade his tank size. However, I'll be purchasing both an all glass aqaurium (to house Herbie while I'm at home) and a stock tank (to house him while I'm at college).

So far I've found this stock tank for sale: http://www.gemplers.com/a/shop/product. ... 82240&UID=
200609121313463756103439.

It's 95 gallons, 28"W x 51"L x 24"H. Does this seem like a good purchase or does anyone have any recommendation? And what cons can I expect from using a stock tank?

Thanks a ton --- I'm so glad I came across this forum because I found a lot of useful information while browsing through posts!

I had a 150+ gallon stock tank for my boys and I loved it. We had a valve in the bottom that we put a faucet into that way we could thread a garden hose to it to empty with out the mess and hassel. We even fixed it so our filter fit over the edge of it. I absoultely loved it.

The stock tank is great. I refuse to buy a glass tank, especially after watching my last glass tank bust apart. That wasn't pretty.

As for Cons..the only con I can really think of is that suction cups won't stick to the rubber stock tanks. But hey that's what super glue is for!!! (and some people will tell you it's toxic..I seriously do not believe it is. I've used it in my tank, no one's died and it's been in there for over two months now...and what do you think they honestly use on the half the stuff we put in with our turtles?!?!?) So just use some superglue before you go filling up the tank and superglue down the suction cups of the basking dock or use a creative way to get it to stick. The only other bad thing is filter wise, it's hard to fit filters on the edges, but you can cut the stock tank a bit to make it fit or just get a filter canister.

Pros, easy to clean, doesn't break, sturdy, lightweight to carry if you have to do a full cleaning, durable, turtle doesn't bang head against glass constantly, more natural for the turtle to feel protected, less algae grows, etc etc etc.
