How long have you had the dock in the tank? Do you have a UVB lamp and a heat light? What are the basking temps?

Your turtle could be adjusting to something new in its environment. Give it a few days and they should start using it.

flutterbys right. My turtles take a few days to even move out from their cave after the tank uis cleaned. i usually flush them out but their getting better about it. id say that a few days will go by and you'll find them up there soon enough!

Give your turtle some private time. He may be basking when you aren't around. My turtle will only bask when no one is around. We found this out one day when we opened the apartment door (the tank is in the living room) and saw his reflection on the cureo glass. Once we walked in, he jumped off. Sometimes, all we see is the dock rocking back and forth.

To give him privacy on our days off, hubby and I will retreat to the bedroom to watch TV for an hour or two so Tanner gets the time he needs to bask.
My babies: Tanner (RES), MR. Prissy & Ringo (budgies), Shinju (cockatiel)

since my turtles are in my room, they are used to people walking in and out so they dont mind.
