Most setups like that are made for fish and the filters are not sufficient for a turtle tank. You also more than likely wouldn't be using the hood that would come with it either. So that being said, separate is the way I'd go

Ya, thats what I was figuring. Saw this one at Wal-Mart that had everything for like 148. Does anyone know how much a 75 gal. tank costs.

Depends on if you buy new or used. I bought a used 75 gallon, stand, lighting, cover, and filter for $180. Everything but the filter was in great shape. If you don't mind used, then check ebay and craigslist to look for some great deals.

You could expect a 55 gallon and possibly a 75 gallon. Much larger than that and they are usually special order. They take up a lot of valuable store space.

If you are going to buy new, I would recommend checking your smaller mom and pop stores. You might be able to find a better deal.

I wouldn't buy a whole kit, I'd get a tank and do some reading on what products people think are good.

My local PetSmart didn't have any 75 gal tanks but has a 55 light & tank combo for $109.

The tank alone is worth about $50-$70, new. If that hood can't hold a UVB light and let you use a basking lamp... then I'd skip it.

Look at craigslist.com lots of people have big tanks, with stands for much cheaper then you'll find there. I got a 55 Gal. With a broad iron stand for 75$. I painted the stand, cleaned the tank, got an XP3 and voila, my current setup. Hell i'm trying to convince my parents to let me move it to my living room, because i found an unheard of deal on a 200gal with stand...

Well, before you go and get a 200 gal tank you need to make sure that the floors of your house can handle A TON OF WATER!!!(that is, water is about 10lbs. a gallon, so 10 x 200=2000lbs. or one ton!!!!) If you are not sure, just call a house inspector and he can tell you weather or not it will work.

I had a king size water bed.. not sure how many gallons... and I kept it upstairs with no problems.. and the petsmart by me had a 150 gallon with stand for about $1,000.. it was beautiful, just the right height and width and depth.. I fell in love with it! and also, like I had said in another post, ebay had a 125 gallon with everything included going for only $300 right now.. but you have to pick it up in madison , WI!!!!
