my parents recently redid the upstairs bathroom! so i get the old tub. i cleaned it with a 5% bleach solution and the "works" to make sure all of the soap stuff was gone (the tub hasnt been used in 5 years anyways) i am going to put it in the backyard but i dont know what to cover or put under the drainage hole.
help would be appreciated

thanks

i sealed it up w/ concrete. and put a plastic "i cant beleive its not butter" top under it. it holds water! also, im gonna silicone some tile onto the sides for a nice basking area. pics will come if my camera decides to hold a charge!

if it warms up ill go out and take pics, my camera holds a charge! i got "chicken wire" to cover it, its not "chicken wire" though, it has really small holes, probably 2/8 of an inch.

If the holes are too small, it will filter out the UVB. Best not to go below 1/2 inch.

I'm looking forward to those pictures. It's a popular thing around here to plant flowers in an old toilet and put it in your yard. Kind of reminded me of that.

DO'H! i forgot about the holes! ill have to go return it, also, i do have a toilet, but it would be MUCH to big to put it in the tub, i was going to make a filter out of it but oh well, its in the trash now.

I wasn't suggesting putting the toilet in the tub, just telling you what they do with them here, lol.

Someone on the old forum used to keep her turtles in a bathtub outside during the day. It's a clever idea, and potentially could be made to look very nice. :)

turtle - You could cover 1/2 of the tub, and get a nice sized heater, and it could be a turtle spa... Steam and all during the colder months!!! lol. I cant wait to see pictures, sounds ausome.

I understand completly... It'd take a lot of energy as well to heat a outside bathtub all winter long!!! even though you live in huston...

So what are your plans for the winter with them?? Just out of curiousity.
