They don't try to climb over it and knock over the dominos and then escape?

Straykingfisher,... You are so hilarious. That set up is great. I used old video tapes to do the same thing for my girl turtey when she was younger and she loved it. Every turtle has its own personality and enjoyments."To Each its Own"

Cooter (my female 6'' RES) definatley is an escape artist, i've come to realize! I've had her for 8 months and she and I are still having bonding issues. When I left for 3 days back to Seattle I came home to an empty tank and FREAKED! She had climbed out jumped (or fell) off her table that he tank was on (approx. 3.5 feet). I looked all around the house and was careful where I stepped. I have never taken her out of her tank in the house (twice outside several months ago). To make a long story short I found her under a table perfectly fine, content, and happy.

Lesson learned: block tank so she can't get out and take her out once in awhile to give her attention and let her explore!

Her basking rock was high enough to the edge of tank where if she streched out fully she could reach with her claws. She must have pulled herself up then fell over! We just cover the opening with her lamp now. Silly girl. :P

don't let them out of the tank!! well except for times when you have to, like when you're cleaning the tank. but even then, i put them in a container. it's incredibly dangerous to leave a turtle out of his tank. i did that to my baby turt when i first got him (to clean his bowl), and he ran out of sight. i looked in every crack of the house and never found him =(
i <3 my turtles!

my turts love attention and soon as you go in the room they come to the side of the tank and they get very excited. i let mine run around all the time - they even follow me around like dogs - i dont have to carry them from lounge to kitchen to be fed they follow me there!!!
all i can say is dont let them near stairs- one of mine fell down and cut her head.
