Are there any negative effects of partial water changes every week? I have an xP3 for an 80 gallon tank.

Not really, make sure to add some water conditioner as you do each change, other than that, keep the tank as clean as you can, you dont want to live in a filthy house and your turtles dont want to live in a filthy tank.

jb117, if you've got adequate biomedia in your tank, you want to be doing partial water changes about weekly. I have the XP3, and I do 30-40% water changes weekly.

If you're in doubt about the quality of the water, test it. You can get kits for testing ammonia, nitrite and nitrates in aquarium supply sections.

Turtleman17, how often you change the water depends on factors like the size of your tank, the size of your turt, how much water you have in the tank, the filter, if you have other creatures in with the turt (fish, for example), etc. The smaller your tank, the smaller your filter and the less water you have in the tank, the more often the water needs to be changed.
