I figured I post a pictoral update of Sylar's shedding. It started off slowly, but now it seems like he is going to shed half his scutes at once!

Hehe, even though it looks like it's coming off, it's probably still gonna take maybe a week or so for the first to fall off. Or it could be just the picture angle...

Anyways, to answer your question, corey. Yes, the shedding of the scutes (shell pieces) does look like this, except the turtle in the picture was overfed before, so the spaces in between the scutes are larger than normal.

lol, I saw the words "shedding" , and I saw the hair.
My first reaction was " WHOA that's some weird shedding."

Yeah... some of you have heard this story before, but I was given my turtle as an Xmas gift, and then went in the hospital a week and a half later. Noone knew much about turtles, and my husband and father were left in charge of feeding. He got who knows how many noname brand pellets twice a day, and nothing else. My family tried, but when I got back almost 2 months later, he had grown too fast, and he was living in an inch of green water. (noone "knew" how to clean the tank  ) I have redone his whole set up and put him on a much better diet since then, and now he seems to be thriving. :D

And yeah, the hair....that is some "weird shedding" :P That's ME shedding. I saw 3 different doctors to find out why my hair is falling out all of a sudden. :? The dermatologist finally said that it was some sort of delayed reaction to the physical and emotional stress of having been so sick. Anyway, I think its slowing down.

My mom lost a patch of hair when she became ill, but it grew back, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks Nettle. It actually finally stopped falling out. It hasn't really started growing back yet, but I don't have any obvious bald spots, it's just thinner than it was. Luckily for me it was really thick in the first place, so its not super noticable, unless you knew what it looked like before. The doc said it would come back in and told me to take some vitamins, so I'm not so freaked out now.
