I'm just curious, what do you guys do for fun with your RES? For example, do you let them out and run around the room (supervised and safe of course? Or do you have something different and fun in your tank that makes it more fun to watch? I'm just looking for cool new ideas that are both fun and safe for me and my RES, Leo. Thanks guys!

I don't have anything particularly interesting in the tank. Just plants, guppies and rocks. They like to chase the fish and push the rocks around tho. I used to have a cave in there but they outgrew it.

Sometimes I'll get them to chase my finger back and forth thru the glass. They could do that for hours if I had the time. Some ppl throw in a ping pong ball for fun.

Generally I only take them out to eat something messy or to clean house and they're always in a dishpan, not roaming free.

I let Neptune walk around my garage (with the door open) so he can get some good sunlight.

If it isn't sunny out I let Mikey roam around the living room while I watch him. If it's sunny out, then I take a beach towel out and lay it down and lay out as he crawls around. I usually keep him near me though.

As for in the tank, he has caves and rocks that I have gotten from around our creek. He loves to constantly hide in those. Other than that, that's about it. He loves to get out of the tank though and play, but he loves to play in the grass the best.

Ok, I hope no one takes this personally, its not meant as an attack but my goodness.. fun with a turtle?? It's not like they are a dog or a cat. I can't imagine they have lots of "fun" in the wild. Yes, I do the same as jenaero does, I let them chase my fingers either through the glass or on top of the water, but at one point I was wondering.. hmmm who is getting more fun out of this, me or the turtle. I mean they are expecting food.. seems to me it could be kind of frustrating, like someone waving your favorite food in front of your face and not letting you have any. They have their fish in there to chase, some "decorations".. but I think the most "Fun" they have is trying to swim upstream in the filter flow.. or trying to bite bubbles (maybe they think they are food??"

Just my 2 cents and that's not worth much these days :)

Having the proper requirements and necessities in their habitat should make them feel content. Playing with your turtles can stress them out, they don't like cuddling.
My turtles love diving into the water which I hear is better than a krill treat.

*he he* cute

yeah turtles aren't play type animals, but they have things in there habitat that are playful to watch! Plants that float, cuttlebone, and some turtle chase fish and bubbles. See if that helps!
