This is the old basking dock.

This is the new dock. My boyfriend and I spent the weekend working on it. now it's done. We just need to decorate it.

We then added another piece of egg crate on the side to prevent Coke from climbing out.

I am going to get a anti-slip mat soon. For now, we just gonna use a piece of cardboard.

This is my first time making a basking dock, so please post any sugguestions, comments. I would love to make any improvements.

It looks good so far. Is there eggcrate under the cardboard? If there is, why not just remove the cardboard before it gets all soggy?

I was afraid that the eggcrate is too hard for them to walk on. Or am I just worrying too much?

They haven't climbed onto the dock yet.. I hope they will use it..

Looks great, they'll eventually use it, just warming up to it.. That weird turtle is WIERD! lol but i like him.. He has some crazy eyes.. what kind is it?

I agree with Tracie though, I think that cardboard is going to be more trouble than it's worth, even in the short term. It'll just disintegrate with the constant moisture, and probably make your tank mucky.
However, it is a bit of a catch 22 I guess. It looks like your turts legs are still small enough to slip through the holes, so you're right, it's probably best to have something on top. I would say get some anti slip stuff asap (or whatever other plastic material), and swap it out before the cardboard gets too bad

Also, be mindful of the rocks on the basking area. Your turts will almost certainly end up pushing them off, and you don't want them to crack the bottom of the tank. I don't know if the rocks are large enough to do that, but it is a risk.

which turtle are u talking about? Coke is a RES and Pepsy is a mississppi map turtle. As for that rock turtle, I have no idea. haha
