It's very easy to find this info which has been posted numerous times on the forum. All you need to do is search for the word sex and you'll get many topics which discuss this.

Here are 2 other sites that have pictures that illustrate how to tell what sex your turtle is.. please note that unless your turtle is at least 4" you'll not be able to tell what sex they are.

Aquatic Turtle Sexing

Austin's Turtle Page

This last site also explains how to measure your turtle properly.

After I look at this article and my turtle closely once again, I really do think my turtle is a female and not male(as marisa mentioned to me once before) At first I thought turtle nail grows longer and longer over time, not because of sex difference. Guess I'll have to save money from now on to get her a 120 gal. tank in the future

How old is your turtle again? If it's not 4" or over, it's very difficult to tell. Do you have any pictures of your turtle that maybe we can look at and give you an opinion on?

Carol, here is a link to one of RESCHIU's posts that has some pics in it:

Like Carol said it is hard to tell up to the time the are 4+ inches, because they still can change even within the time they grow from 3 inches to 4 inches. :)

Thanks sonyj.. :)

Yep, can't tell. Your turtle is still way too small. I had a turtle I swore was female turned out to be a male. The others were easy to tell even when they were younger, but the one just didn't want to divulge the info until he was good and ready .. :)

she's about 3.2 inches now and I had her for about 4 years, here is another picture that you can probably tell easier

marisa thinks she's female from her stubby nail and short tail.
hum, guess I'll have to wait a little longer to find out :)

Ok, I'm confused now, (not that it's not easy for me to become confused these days..)

First you say that marisa says it was a boy, and in your last post you say she said it was a girl.. Well after viewing that last picture, I'd have to go with it's a girl :)

I could tell by the time 2 of mine were about 3" what sex they were, just by the tail.. the other one was rather shy about it as I said.. turned out I had 2 boys and a girl.. gave one boy to my daughter and now just have one boy, one girl. Silly me, I should have kept the 2 boys :)

hum, I thought I said that marisa mentioned to me before that she thinks my turtle is female not male....anyway, it is confusing...:)

this is in my first quote:
I really do think my turtle is a female and not male(as marisa mentioned to me once before

this is in my second quote:
marisa thinks she's female from her stubby nail and short tail.

see? I didn't confuse anyone right?:)
