Here are the particulars: Fluval 2 filter, Reptisun 5.0 compact bulb, glass tube heater, big plastic "rock" basking area, 2 live plants, and 1 fake plant that is attached to the side with a suction cup. There are 10 guppy feeder fish & 1 golden snail, and a handful of glass marbles at the bottom of the tank for color (got that idea from JELslider, thanks!). The white flower that is hanging over the basking area is real (orchid went into bloom about a month ago).
I'm happy to report that little Siobhan started eating right when I put him in his aquarium (2 reptomin foodsticks!), even though he traveled for almost 9 hours in his little plastic pet carrier (I had a towel in there that he snuggled up in during that time). I was a little worried, thinking he might be stressed rom the trip, but no, I soaked 2 foodsticks in water, held them up to his little face, and he gobbled them down. He also ate heartily the next day too (2 more foodsticks). I don't think he would have found the food if I had just thrown it in the tank, so I held it up to his face so he saw it & I think that helped encourage him to eat. I offered him cuttlebone, but he didn't want that yet. I'll keep trying that. AND I think it is only a matter of time before he realizes that the fish are tasty.....!
Siobhan's just the sweetest little thing. This is a whole new experience for me having a hatchling. I about went nuts in the pet store buying little things (plants, fish, snail) for his setup....things I can't put in Sheba's tank because she would either eat or destroy them.
UPDATE: Since Steve asked for another pic of Siobhan, here is one more:
I have only had him/her for a week now but so far so good. Baby eats like a pig (I give 2 foodsticks/day, pre-soaked & by hand), completely has devoured/shredded the plant that was around the basking area, and the cuttlebone piece has gotten smaller and smaller due to little nips being taken out of it. AND at least one of the guppies has disappeared too.....hmmmmm
