Online Links and Deals :: WTB: 40, 55, or 60 gal Tank, NYC Area

I see a few private sale ads here, so I thought I'd ask. I'm in NYC proper, but I'm willing to drive to Westchester or a little north thereof, the boros except SI, and NJ within about half an hour to pick up.

Specifically, I'm looking for a 40 gallon tank, or preferably a 55-60 gallon. Again, I'd prefer it if they came with stands, but I can make do with a reinforced coffee table if needed. I'm willing to pay up to around $50 if anyone has something they could let go. If you can "donate" the tank to me, I'd be happy to take that $50 and add it to a donation I'll be making to TRLI when I pick up my babies. I could even make the donation in your name if you like.

I'll be rescuing one, or most likely, two male established tank mates, so the 55-60 is preferable. My humble thanks to anyone who can help (and yes, I'm looking on Craigslist, too).

Craigslist is great, you just need to constantly check and act fast when one pops up. I found a 100 gallon with stand for $100. As for a new tank, Petco occasionally has $1 per 1 gallon tank sale for up to 55 gallons. Check local classifieds and garage sales too.

Males often need to be separated, even if they have been tank mates.

Thanks, Steve. I hadn't realized that they could still become too aggressive with each other, even after living together. Perhaps I'll see if they have a RES and something else like a musk or mud turtle that won't get too big and can live in peace.

I got a 55 gal at Petland last night during one of their $1/gal sales! Woo!

Needless to say, I'm now almost ready. I'm ordering a heater today, then with my next free cash I'm ordering a filter, and then I can get babies!!!!
