That sounds like a plan. I also have 2 of the large Magnets...lol And they hold at least 5 pounds...soooo I didnt even think of using them for the corkbark! DUH! I bet that would work!

The flat version I have has a slight curve to it. One note... my girl wants to eat the cork. She has a ferocious appetite and tried to eat the whole thing! She can't eat PVC and tile though.

Hmmmmm thats not good. Tobi likes to eat through her fake plants when she is "gravid" .... and she tried knawing at the Zoo Med docks...I wonder if the corkbark will hurt her?!

I would buy it to try... but if she starts eating it; well that would just stink!

If a little bit is eaten, it's nothing to worry about. If you have a lot of floating poop, then I'd reconsider the bark

Very interesting discussion, all. I think I may eventually experiment with a very large piece of this cork bark in Sheba's tank just to see how it works out (looking at a back-up plan down the road). With a few of those super-strong magnets, I think I could get it to hold in place. Sheba's tank is about 20 inches wide so I would definitely need the biggest piece they could send me.

Industrial_Girl, I've been buying corkbark from www.blackjungle.com for a few years now. I'm a bit of a nut about corkbark. I've always ordered it, but the last time I bought some (July) I physically drove to the place and hand-picked out the pieces. I wound up spending a little over $100 on corkbark and driftwood, and that was with a 20% discount(!) and a cut rate per pound because of the number of pounds I bought. I will be experimenting with different basking areas this fall. The longest piece I bought for Tilly's outdoor stock tank is 36" and does look like a log.

If you want to buy corkbark for Sheba, you want to get a "curl," not a flat piece. The curls tend to flatten out over time (but never become completely flat), and with a curl, you've got a built-in ramp for the turtle.

I've never had a problem with corkbark being eaten. It's been nibbled on a few times, but I just take that as an indication that perhaps a bit more food is needed. Poop will float sometimes, and it's not because of corkbark.
