Most of you remember I obtained an Eastern Painted from a soon-to-be filled runoff pond. After debating whether to keep it and care for it myself or send it to a rescue, I decided that I would do everything the rescue would do and give it more attention. So, now for pictures.

Note, this setup is only temporary to get it out of the 36 degree weather outside, I'll do better really soon. I think she has some permanent algae stains on her shell, but she's from the wild, what can I do? :?

What a pretty turtle! Her colors are very nice. Her shell will look nicer after a good shed. Her little fangs are cute too. Looks like her shell was pretty badly injured in the past. Does it seem to be completely healed?

How is she adjusting to life in captivity?

Blondie's very cute. Is she a dog? What kind is she? Don't believe I've seen one like her before.

Blondie is a Pomeranian, we keep her shaved because it's less stress on her and easier to not keep matted.

She seems fully healed and she's really social!

Lol Pomeranians are insane, I lived with one for a year and she was this perfectly round ball of fur that jumped up and down a lot.

Gotta love those painted fangs... I remember being so confused when I found out that RES don't have them, and it took a long time before I finally found a reference to the fact that it's characteristic of painteds.

I didn't notice the fangs either. Really interesting looking. Glad she hasn't bitten me, that would hurt! :P

WHOA!!! Look at the beak on that turtle! LOL. My painted is not any where near that sharp or long.... Keep those fingers away LOL.
I would be worried about that big crack in here shell (it is a crack right?) Also you might want to get her into a vet for a fecal in case she has worms.
