Thank you

I just wanted to clairify where Hanible's tank is set up. It is in an inclosed room, with windows. We just recently took the paneling down and put up new insulation and drywall. And we also redid the ceiling. The only difference between where he(she) is now and the inside of my house is air condintioning. Sorry If I made it sound different then what it really is.

Yes I am very aware of the hawks, and owls, and also raccoons. My dog is only 9 pounds and is never let outside alone due to the hawks that live in the "woods", if you could call it that, across from me.

When we orginally wanted to move Hanible from his small tank, we looked into ponds, but b/c of the wild animals around we decided not to take the risk.

smart thinking! you could always . . . nevermind racoons kill any outside arrangement. Those animals are rough! They will eat anything!

We have some racoons around here, as well as possums. But they have been behaving.

Racoons will get into anything... My mom left a deep fryer on a table on her deck one night after a cookout by accident. All she found the next day was a large oil stain on her deck and the inside of the deep fryer spotless - every last drop of oil was licked clean. She had seen racoons in her trash cans, so she was pretty sure it was one that got her deep fryer. I don't she ever used it again after that :D.

Have you ever seen a baby racoon? I saw two hanging out in my backyard, playing with the berries that had fallen off a tree. They are so irrestible. I left some fruits there so they had a good meal

I havea a family of racoons that live on my property. When my youngest son was still living at home, he use to "play" with them... it got to be rather hilarious. He'd chase after them with the broom to get them out of the garbage etc.. Well they learned not to be afraid of him. One night I heard this "knocking" on my door.. I looked out and here were these 2 young racoons.. tapping on the storm door for food. I've seen them on the deck eating the cats food the past few nights and have tried to get pictures but its darn near impossbile. But I keep trying :)

Funny how animals adjust to their surroundings. Mom lives here in the middle of the city but sees everything come through her yard. We've seen rabbits, groundhogs, foxes and deer.

I remember when my dad was mowing the tall grass for the first time and acidently scared off a rabbit. He looked closer to where she was hiding and he found a nest of 5 newborns.
We left flour on top of the nest but the next two days, there was no footprint or anything, the flour was smooth flat.
Guessing that the mother would not come back, we kept them in a cardboard box. They still had their eyes shut and their ears still stuck to their heads. About a week later, 2 had died but the rest opened their eyes and their ears fully erect. The three named Lollo, Kim, and Lue.
They all got great homes around my neighborhood, I couldn't keep one because of my doberman.

That's a beautiful rabbit story, much better than what happened to us tonight. We have a neighborhood cat that hunts through our back yard. Tonight when we went out to mow we found that the cat had caught a rabbit and decided to leave it in pieces on our back patio. Not a wonderful site to walk out to. :(
