hey everyone, been reading up on the forums for the past week and figured i would finally post. I just picked up 3 baby RES last weekend. still havent come up with any names yet but workin on some names
Current setup is a 29 gallon tank with above ground basking area

Honestly the dont seem to enjoy the basking area all that much, they tend to go about halfway up the ramp and just sit there and chill

And here are pics of the little guys

I know i have a few things that need to be changed. i have fish tank gravel in there now and need to replace that with river rock as well as the fact that they are going to outgrow their surroundings before i know it. I never realized how much work the upkeep would be on these little guys til i started reading here

Yes, they do grow incredibly fast, but it looks like you have a great start there so far!
A bit of advice, I may be wrong, but I think the ramp might be kind of steep, though it's hard to tell in the pic. Maybe that's why they won't go all the way up, I'm not sure.
Good luck with your turts, it looks like they're in great care with you!

Yea i was thinking that about the ramp as well. It is fairly steep, they have walked up it before but i know i have seen several times where they get scared at the top of the ramp and just sorta lose their footing on the way down the ramp to the water and sorta roll right down

lol yeah, that's usually a good sign to make it a little shallower hill. It's only because they're little and it's a long walk. Good luck with however you try to fix it!

Cute Babies.... and welcome to the forum. :) It's a great start and I just want to commend you on researching what your turtles need and trying to provide them with that. Good job. Your setup looks great.

I would definitely ditch the gravel like you said and tweak the basking area a little more. It's very important that they bask, so just adjust it until they are comfortable with it. :)

Let us know if we can help you any. :)

Nice set up. I like the dock. Looks kind of like ours. Cute turtles :D
