Your turtles are so pretty. I just love how cool the EPT's are! They certainly are a long term pet.

Wow, i wish my RES' and other turts shell was nice as your RES'. Mines are always dry or have mineral deposits no matter how much Water Softeners i try and also PH tablets... =\

should ph tablets be used to fight hard water? Ph tablets will change the ph but not necessarily bond with the chloride ions in the water to soften it up. Same with any of the suspended ions in the water whether its iron‚ calcium or coppper. I know that using water conditioners will definitely take the hard minerals out of the water. Are you sure that whats on your turts shells is mineral deposits and not some shell problem?
